Stoke City will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Championship this afternoon when they head to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town.

Having secured a crucial point in their clash with Blackburn Rovers earlier this week, the Potters know that a victory over the Hatters could see them put some daylight between them and the relegation zone in the second-tier.

However, when you consider that Luton have triumphed in their last two home games against Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke cannot afford to underestimate Graeme Jones' side today.

Regardless of what division the Potters find themselves in next season, manager Michael O'Neill may be in for a busy summer transfer window.

Keeping this in mind, here are two potential Stoke transfer scenarios that we could see play out in the summer...

Kevin Wimmer departs

When Stoke opted to sign Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 for a reported fee of £18m, they would have been hoping that the defender would emerge as a key player for the club.

However, after failing to make a positive impressive at the bet365 Stadium during his debut campaign, the 27-year-old was loaned out to Hannover 96 last season where his struggles for consistency continued.

Having been allowed to leave the club on a temporary basis in 2019 by then-boss Nathan Jones, it would not be at all surprising if O'Neill decides to cut ties with Wimmer when his existing deal with Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron expires this summer.

By securing a sizeable for the defender, Stoke could use the money to re-invest in their squad before the start of next season.

Moritz Bauer is allowed to leave on a permanent basis

Since joining Stoke in January 2018 following a two-year spell in Russia with Rubin Kazan, Moritz Bauer has experienced a limited amount of success in Staffordshire.

Although the full-back initially forced his way into the club's starting eleven, he was limited to just 12 appearances in all competitions last season after falling down the Potters' pecking order.

Currently on loan at Celtic, Bauer has been used on a sporadic basis during the current campaign by manager Neil Lennon due to the presence of Jeremie Frimpong.

When you consider that O'Neill has the likes of Tommy Smith and Tom Edwards at his disposal, O'Neil may opt to sell the Austria international this summer.
