Dean Smith has already made an impact at Aston Villa, although it has been a mixed start in terms of results with the side winning two and losing two of the new boss' first four games.

However, that was perhaps understandable, with Smith trying to implement a new style of play, encouraging a passing approach similar to how his Brentford side played.

And, one man who has missed out because of that is Mile Jedinak.

The Australian international was a favourite under Steve Bruce, however, he has been an unused substitute since the former Walsall boss took over.

Given his age, Jedinak may not be happy to sit on the bench and may want clarification from Smith that he is indeed needed ahead of the January window.

Here we look at TWO potential paths for the 34-year-old...

It's important to remember that Jedinak was an important player for Villa last season as they reached the Wembley play-off final.

He has great experience and his influence in the dressing room will also be valued by those at the club.

Smith has tended to play with one defensive midfielder this season and Jedinak will hope that he can win that role if he is given a chance.

As mentioned, at his age, Jedinak will want to be playing before he retires, so he may not be happy sitting on the bench.

Whether it's in the UK or moving abroad, there will be a lot of interest in the player.

He could search for one final payday to cap off a great career.
