The summer transfer window is always a big deal for clubs up and down the country with a lot of negotiating taking place and clubs attempting to get the bargains that they need.

Bristol City and manager Lee Johnson will be looking forward to the summer transfer window no matter what league they end up in for next season and the Robins gaffer will already be assessing what he wants by the end of August.

There will be plenty of transfer scenarios taking place at Ashton Gate and here are two that we could see play out in the summer...

Niclas Eliasson departure

The fleet-footed winger was thought to be interesting Premier League side Burnley during the January window and they could be back to renew their interest when the summer comes around.

His form across the campaign will have likely piqued the interest of a few clubs in the top tier thanks to the 12 assists that he has already claimed despite only becoming a regular starter from November onwards.

The Swedish youth international is out of contract this summer at Ashton Gate but CEO Mark Ashton confirmed in November that the Robins are likely to exercise the one-year option that they have.

The option will not stop clubs from the top flight circling around one of City's star men as they try to bring one of the Championship assist kings to the Premier League.

It could be a long summer for Bristol City if a bidding war starts over the 24-year-old.

Secure Markus Henriksen

The former Hull City skipper joined the club on loan during the January deadline day rush and he has already managed to force his way into the starting XI at Ashton Gate inside the space of a month.

The Norway international has slotted into the midfield well after replacing Josh Brownhill, who left for Burnley during January.

The physical midfielder revealed not long after joining City that he had a few options on the table last month.

Henriksen's contract with Hull is up in the summer and the Robins could be one of the sides interested in the 27-year-old if he continues to impress over the next couple of months.

The midfielder already being at Bristol City gives them an advantage over other clubs if they were to try and bring him in on a permanent deal  but they will need to be prepared for some fierce competition.
