At the start of the season many Norwich fans were optimistic about their club's chances of bouncing straight back to the top flight.

However a string of poor results and Norwich are sat at the bottom of the play-off places, with many fans wanting manager Alex Neil gone.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat away to QPR saw Norwich slump to a fourth defeat in a row, leaving fans questioning whether the current squad is good enough for a promotion push.

Despite this poor run of form, a positive start to the campaign means they still have a good chance of bouncing straight back to the Premier League, and with the January transfer window creeping closer there is plenty of opportunity to strengthen the team

Here are TWO positions Norwich need to splash the cash on if they are to stand any chance of getting back to the top flight....

1) Centre back

Klose

In the last 4 years Norwich have signed just one central defender (Timm Klose), which has often left them in trouble when an injury occurs.

With that in mind it's no surprise Norwich have conceded as many goals as they've scored this season, conceding 29, which is the 22nd worst in the Championship.

It's clear Norwich are lacking a real experienced centre back to control that back line, and should Alex Neil remain at the club, he must invest in at least 1 new central defender.

2) A goal-scoring striker

One of the main reasons for Newcastle's success this season is goal-machine Dwight Gayle, bagging 13 goals from 13 appearances.

Meanwhile Norwich are without this clinical finisher, with ageing forward Cameron Jerome the club's current top goal scorer with 6.

Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells has been heavily linked with an £8 million move to the club in January, after rejection to sign a contract extension at his current club.

For me this would be an excellent signing for Norwich, as despite only scoring 3 this season, he has proven in the past to be a clinical finisher.

Whether the man is Nahki Wells or not, Norwich must improve their striking options if they are compete with the big teams like Newcastle and Brighton this season.
