Portsmouth's midweek clash with Lincoln City is looking like a huge clash for the home side, with time seemingly running out for manager Kenny Jackett

A 1-0 loss to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday left them floating just one point above the relegation zone, despite being made pre-season candidates to challenge for promotion.

For the first time, audible chants for Jackett to leave were heard from the travelling faction of the crowd, with tonight's clash with Lincoln City at Fratton Park now looking crucial to his job prospects.

Michael Appleton will no doubt sense the chance to pick up his second win as Lincoln boss, however, and their first in three matches.

And here are TWO Portsmouth weaknesses they will be able to expose...

Hostile crowd

One big advantage that Lincoln will undoubtedly have over Pompey is the pressure their hosts will be under from their home fans.

The longer the match goes without them taking the lead, the more pressure they will feel and the more likely mistakes will be, giving the Imps a great chance to pounce.

It also means that if Appleton's side are able to nick an early goal, the crowd will be on top of their side in a flash, leaving them with a relatively easy match to manage.

Attacking toothlessness

In previous seasons, this is a match that newly promoted sides would have been sensible to sit back in and take a point.

But given just how weak Pompey have been in attack, there really is not much need for Lincoln to do that. Whilst they should of course show respect to their hosts, they will be able to commit men forward as they would if playing at home.

They will know that the chances of them being punished up the other end are slim, so can leave fewer men back to deal with the attack.
