Portsmouth's League One campaign has got off to a largely disappointing start.

With Kenny Jackett's side having only picked up three wins in their opening ten games, the south coast club will be looking to pick up a victory against fellow strugglers AFC Wimbledon this weekend.

Much of Pompey's issues this season have been down to the lack of creativity in the side, with Jackett's men having only found the net this season on twelve occasions, thus leading to widespread criticism for the former Millwall boss' methods from the Pompey faithful.

The Fratton Park outfit head into their weekend clash against the Dons in relatively good form, having only suffered one defeat in their last five league games, whilst they also picked up important wins against Bolton Wanderers and Doncaster Rovers respectively.

Jackett bought in a total of eight new signings this summer to supplement his existing squad, however there are a few of which that have yet to make a big impact so far.

Here, we take a look at TWO Portsmouth signings who have failed to hit the ground running at Fratton Park....

John Marquis

One player who came in with a big reputation but has so far failed to live up to it is former Millwall striker John Marquis, who joined the club as Jackett's marquee signing this summer from fellow League One club Doncaster Rovers.

The front man has cut a frustrated figure at times this season, with the 27-year-old having only found the net twice in his first fourteen games for the club, which pales in comparison to last season, where he netted 26 goals in all competitions as Doncaster ultimately fell short in the playoffs.

Jackett will no doubt be hoping Marquis finds his scoring boots soon after what has been a poor start to his time at the Fratton Park outfit.

Ryan Williams

One other player who has flattered to deceive since arriving at the club, is winger Ryan Williams, who joined the Fratton Park outfit from Rotherham United on a free transfer this summer, with the 25-year-old Australian churning out a large amount of lacklustre performances so far.

In eight appearances this term, Williams has failed to score or assist in any games, whilst he has also averaged just 0.5 dribbles per game, which makes for grim reading from the winger's perspective.

It is fair to say that he really hasn't lived up to expectations so far, and Jackett will be hoping that the Aussie can get himself more involved in proceedings as we head towards the mid-way point of the season, particularly with Pompey still languishing in the bottom half.
