Portsmouth have a decent chance of making the play-offs once again this season and will be looking to make that happen in the second half of the campaign.
The men from Fratton Park have certainly had their ups and downs this year and finding consistency will be key in the run-in if they are to finish inside the top six and have a shot at promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.
It'll be interesting to see how they use the January window in terms of strengthening their squad but there also seems the chance that exits could go through too.
Here are two players who might be eyeing pastures new in this window...
Ellis Harrison
Harrison has been largely used as a sub if at all this season by Portsmouth and so there's every chance he could be considering his options this January.
Links with Shrewsbury Town have already been revealed at the start of this window and though Shrews manager Steve Cotterill has seemingly played things down, it does seem apparent there is interest in Harrison in this market.
He'll want to be playing and if that opportunity is no longer at Portsmouth an exit would be wise.
Paul Downing
The defender has hardly played for the club this year and has been linked with a switch to Doncaster Rovers at the early point of this January window.
Whether that happens or not remains to be seen but it is clear that there is a chance he could move on and you can understand why that would be the case.
He wants to be playing football like any other footballer and so a move away in January might be his best bet to achieve that.
