Portsmouth now do not have long to go until the League One season draws to a close, and it is safe to say that the south coast side are still in the hunt for automatic promotion back to the Championship.

Pompey were in action on Monday night at Fratton Park, going down 2-0 to Arsenal as their FA Cup journey ended for another year.

However, it is the league that remains their focus, and as it stands, Kenny Jackett's side occupy 3rd place in the table with 59 points from their 33 league games.

To ensure triumph come the end of the season, here are TWO issues around the club that Jackett must sort to ensure the remainder of this month is a success...

Inconsistency away from home

This has been an Achilles heel for Pompey throughout the course of the season, despite recent signs that they had found the right approach on their travels.

The best sequence of results Pompey have managed away from home in the league so far this campaign has been to go four games unbeaten from the start of January until the start of February.

However, old habits have crept back in as the south coast side have lost their last two away matches in succession to Coventry and Fleetwood respectively.

That has meant that Pompey have lost eight times so far this season on their travels.

A key factor behind it is that they do not score enough goals. The side has an average of just over a goal per game away from home this term.

Avoiding individual errors

This issue has plagued Pompey throughout the course of the season, and has led to a significant amount of points being dropped.

Jackett simply cannot afford for this to continue, as those points dropped could be the difference between promotion to the Championship and staying in League One.

However, in recent weeks Sean Raggett and Christian Burgess in particular have reduced the number of mistakes they have been committing, so that has to be a positive going forward and the rest of the squad have to follow suit.
