Leeds United are currently well positioned to make a serious bid for promotion.

They are currently sitting 5th in the Championship table and their loss to Yorkshire neighbours and promotion rivals Huddersfield Town was a major dent to their hopes of automatic promotion.

However, they are strong contenders to make the play-offs and Garry Monk is working wonders with his squad.

Automatic promotion is not out of the equation altogether at this stage, either, with Brighton suffering a bit of a wobble in form and Leeds will just be hoping to pick up as many points as possible to give themselves the best chance of a long awaited return to the Premier League after over a decade in the lower leagues.

But Leeds have a few players still officially on their books who just won't make the cut next season.

Here are 2 that Leeds will get rid of, regardless of whether they reach the Premier League or stay in the Championship.

Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull is out of contract at the end of the season and there is no chance that it will be renewed.

The veteran goalkeeper is fourth choice at Leeds, behind Rob Green, Marco Silvestri and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Turnbull needs to leave for his own sake and Leeds do not need that many goalkeepers.

Giuseppe Bellusci

Hot-headed Italian defender Giuseppe Bellusci is an archetypal example of the interventionist Cellino era.

Monk is now building his own squad and doesn't appear to be interested in Bellusci at all.

The centre half is currently on loan at Empoli and Monk will try to offload him permanently in the summer, due to the success of Pontus Jansson (who has just agreed a permanent transfer) and Kyle Bartley (who they will undoubtedly try to re-sign in the summer).
