Barnsley have hit some recent good form over the festive period, and many supporters will be hoping that Daniel Stendel can guide the Tykes back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Stendel's side are currently sat 4th in the League One table and are just six points adrift of an automatic promotion place heading into the New Year.

They have won their last three league games and will be hoping to continue that impressive run of form when they face 2nd placed Luton on New Year's Day.

It's sure to be a fiercely contested battle between the two promotion-chasing sides, as they look to justify their pre-season promotion credentials.

But Daniel Stendel will be hoping to make additions to his squad in January to strengthen their grip on a top six finish this season.

We look at who the Barnsley boss should be targeting when the transfer window reopens.

Find out who those targets are here....

Eaves has been hugely impressive for Gillingham this season and is the sole reason as to why they aren't in the relegation zone heading into 2019.

He has 15 goals to his name this season and could be the man to fire Barnsley into the automatic promotion places by the end of this years campaign as they target an immediate return to the Championship.

Butterfield is still at Derby County which may be hard to believe as he hasn't made a single appearance for the Rams all season.

With the arrival of the likes of George Evans and Mason Mount in the summer, it's unlikely he's going to be getting any game time in Frank Lampard's side this season.

On his day, Butterfield can unlock a defence with ease and he would be an excellent addition for Barnsley in January when the transfer window reopens.
