Newcastle United enter battle with Brentford at St. James’ Park this weekend in a match which sees two sides in decent form lock horns.

The Magpies are currently in third place in the Sky Bet Championship with 22 points from their first 11 matches, whilst their visitors this weekend sit in 7th with four points less than their counterparts.

Rafa Benitez’s men have won their last two fixtures and will be looking to cement their place in the top six of the division with three more points on Saturday.

Brentford on the other hand have surprised plenty of people already this season with a series of eye-catching performances, with a genuine belief in the Griffin Park camp that they can have a successful campaign under boss Dean Smith.

Newcastle are blessed with a plethora of talented players to choose from and may look to utilise their star-studded squad ahead of the game against the Bees.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at two players who should be omitted from the Newcastle starting line-up this Saturday.

Jack Colback

The former Sunderland man was utilised in a defensive midfield role in the last game against Rotherham United but he could miss out here.

The Magpies have Isaac Hayden within their ranks and the former Arsenal youth product is a much better option than Colback in the middle of the park.

The England under-21 international could make a return to the starting line-up for the visit of Brentford, subsequently giving the team a more solid look as they go in search of three points.

The natural midfield player has been filling in at right-back at times during this season but when Newcastle play the better teams, they will need someone more accustomed to playing in defence.

DeAndre Yedlin should be fully fit for the weekend and it makes perfect sense to throw him back into the fold, especially given the pace he has to get forward in attack.

A balanced defence is a must and the American defender is likely to get the nod to play at the back this weekend.

Newcastle United fans, should these players be omitted from the starting line-up against Brentford? Who else should be left out? Let us know in the comments below!!!
