Sheffield United have plenty still to play for in the Sky Bet Championship, with Chris Wilder’s side firmly in contention for the top-six heading into the run-in.

The Blades have put themselves in a magnificent position this season, and although there is a fierce battle going on in the race for sixth, Wilder will be confident his side can come out on top.

Whether Sheffield United secure play-off football remains to be seen, but Wilder can be pleased with how the Blades’ return to the Championship has gone, with his side making the transition back to life in the second-tier easily.

Next season Wilder will be looking for more of the same from his side, who on their day have managed to cut it with the best in the Championship.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Wilder’s playing squad, identifying TWO players who could gain an unexpected chance next year…

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has found himself behind Simon Moore and Jamal Blackman this season, but next year could be different at Bramall Lane.

There are no guarantees that Blackman will return to Sheffield when his loan deal expires, which could lead to a promotion for Eastwood.

Moore would be expected to take the No. 1 jersey in the league, but Eastwood could be used in the cup competitions and to deputise in the league.

It has been a frustrating return to Sheffield for Evans, who will want some guarantees heading into next season from Wilder.

Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke have led the line magnificently this season, but whether they can do it again next year remains to be seen.

James Wilson is only at Bramall Lane on-loan, which could open the door for Evans heading into next season.

The striker will have to prove himself to Wilder, but there is a chance he could work his way back into contention at Bramall Lane.
