Swansea City will be without full-back Martin Olsson for the remainder of the season after the Swedish international ruptured his Achilles against Brentford on Saturday.

The 30-year-old had to be stretchered off in the first-half at Griffin Park and looked in agony as he left the field.

And, the club confirmed the extent of Olsson's injury today, revealing he had successfully undergone surgery but would still miss the rest of the campaign.

That will leave Graham Potter with a real problem at left-back until the New Year.

Midfielder Matt Grimes has filled in on occasions in that position this season and could do so again, with Declan John a more natural replacement.

However, neither have convinced when featuring and the former Ostersunds boss could instead look to bring someone in during the winter window.

Here we look at TWO options that the Welsh side should seriously consider...

The Brentford full-back is out of contract in the summer so may be available at a knockdown price in January.

Barbet has proven himself to be a very reliable player at this level and the way the Bees play is similar to the approach that Potter demands, so he should be able to fit in with ease.

Another option would be Ipswich Town's Knudsen, who is also entering the last six months of his deal.

The Danish international is a strong full-back and would be a very solid addition to a Swans defence that can often look weak.

The 26-year-old has been impressive on the whole since arriving at Portman Road and could be a bargain in the upcoming window.
