There's 15 games left to go in the League One season, and there's plenty for Sunderland to play for.

The Black Cats have big ambitions of securing promotion to the Championship this term and they're certainly well positioned to do so.

One defeat in their last 13 fixtures has propelled Phil Parkinson's side right into the hunt for promotion, with Sunderland currently just three points from the top of the table.

Of course there's a long way to go but supporters of the Black Cats could be forgiven for getting excited about the prospect of leaving the third tier this time around.

While we're massively jumping the gun, Parkinson will have plenty of big decisions to make regarding his squad if they are to prepare for Championship football next term, with several players likely to be deemed surplus to requirements.

But who could move on in the summer? Here's two players who could be sold on ahead of a potential return to the second tier.

Aiden McGeady

He may be one of the most talented players on the Sunderland books, but Aiden McGeady looks like his Wearside days are over.

The Republic Of Ireland international endured a torrid start to the season at the Stadium Of Light before a fallout with Phil Parkinson led to the declaration that he would be moved on in the January transfer window.

Now with Charlton Athletic on loan, it appears highly unlikely that he'll be reintegrated into Phil Parkinson's squad and efforts will be made to move his substantial wages on as Sunderland look for a replacement who will be more in line with the new culture at the club.

Can you name these ex-Sunderland players? Let's find out!

Will Grigg

It just hasn't worked out for Will Grigg at Sunderland.

A lack of goalscoring form has seen the Northern Ireland striker attract plenty of criticism from supporters with many suggesting that he should be sold on.

Bought for a substantial fee, it's unlikely that Sunderland will recoup the full fee paid for Grigg but if they can cut their losses and sign a cost-effective replacement it may be best for all parties.
