Nottingham Forest fans will be keen to see Brennan Johnson return to the City Ground this summer and play a big part under Chris Hughton next season.

The Wales international has thrived on loan in League One with Lincoln City this season, playing an influential role in the Imps' bid for promotion.

Johnson has scored eight goals in all competitions this term and has chipped in with a number of assists. It's those sort of qualities which Forest are craving, and have been all season.

There will be some players at Forest who will be looking to follow in Johnson's footsteps this summer, after seeing him leave the City Ground and flourishing out on loan.

Here, we take a look at a couple of those players who should be looking to head out on for the 2021/22 season.

Ateef Konate

Konate joined Forest from Le Havre last summer, and has since been an impressive figure for Andy Reid's Under-23 side.

The midfielder is yet to make a first-team appearance, though, and the next step for him may be to get out on loan.

The 19-year-old would benefit from playing first-team football potentially in League Two or the National League, and get a number of minutes under his belt.

Loic Mbe Soh

It has been a challenging first season in English football for Mbe Soh, who has struggled for regular game time since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The 19-year-old has made only six appearances in the Championship this season, as well as featuring against Swansea in a heavy FA Cup defeat in South Wales.

The Frenchman has been unlucky in the sense that he has three other central defenders - Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Tobias Figueiredo - ahead of him in the pecking order.

Realistically, McKenna and Worrall will be Forest's preferred defensive partnership next season, and whilst squad depth is needed at this level, you have to wonder whether he'd benefit more from being sent out on loan and playing week in, week out.
