Leeds United suffered a huge setback this afternoon as number two goalkeeper Jamal Blackman was stretchered off in their latest under-23 fixture.

The Chelsea loanee was hoping to get some match sharpness in, with number one Bailey Peacock-Farrell coming under fire of late after a whole host of errors have put his place as Marcelo Bielsa's main man under threat.

However, Peacock-Farrell can, sadly, breathe a sigh of relief on that front for now, with the club confirming that Blackman has indeed broken his leg and will miss the rest of the campaign.

The news will be a bitter blow to both the player and Leeds, who will have been hoping to utilise Blackman at some point this season after he impressed on loan with Sheffield United last term.

However, it's not going to be for Blackman, and so Leeds must now ensure they look for some replacements in the January transfer window.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at TWO potential signings Leeds could make to replace Jamal Blackman...

Tom Heaton

The Burnley man had already fallen behind Tom Pope last term, but the addition of Joe Hart this summer pushed the former Man United man even further down the list.

Heaton will no doubt be open to a move in January, and with his experience, quality, and professionalism, he could well come in not only as a Blackman replacement, but as the new number one.

Angus Gunn

Southampton stopper Gunn is in a big fight at St Mary's over the number one jersey, with England internationals Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy both in the reckoning.

A move to Leeds would be ideal, and he would no doubt be someone, like the aforementioned Heaton, who could come straight into the first XI.

A quality shot stopper with plenty of Championship experience already, Gunn would be an ideal capture.
