With manager Paul Cook leaving Portsmouth for fellow League One side Wigan after winning the League Two title with Pompey last season, the South Hampshire side have appointed Kenny Jackett to guide them to League One glory.

Jackett has plenty of experience helping teams to promotion, previously guiding Millwall and Wolverhampton Wanderers out of the League One into the Championship.

But as Pompey have spent four years in League Two, it may take time for them to adjust back to life in England's third tier, making Jackett's job even harder.

Additionally, some managers tend to attempt to sign players they have previously managed at former clubs and already have a relationship with, which helps them bring the squad together easier, whether Jackett will do that is a mystery.

Anyhow, here are TWO players Jackett has previously managed and consider bringing them to Fratton Park...

Liam Trotter

Having been a major part of Jackett's Millwall side for three consecutive seasons in the Championship, not many people would be surprised if Jackett was to reconnect with the central midfielder.

Trotter is a physical and highly reliable midfielder who has the capability of dictating the play, as well as controlling the tempo of the game, and would fit straight into Portsmouth's starting 11.

With the 28-year-old now a free-agent after being released by Bolton in May, a move for Trotter would be realistic, although his wage demands may be too high, he may be willing to take a pay cut for the guarantee of first team football and to be reunited with Jackett.

James Henry

Henry was not only a part of Jackett's Millwall team which was promoted from League One via the play-offs in 2010, but Jackett also took the English winger with him during his time at Wolves which he again won promotion from the League One, this by winning the League and hitting an impressive 103 points.

Whilst, the 27-year-old may not be as realistic as Trotter, due to Henry having such an impressive season with Bolton last year, helping them gain promotion from League One.

He has now returned to parent club Wolves and will be able to leave the club on a free, if he doesn't activate the extra one-year clause within his contract.

If Henry does become a free agent a move down south to Portsmouth may happen, as it is no secret Henry has a fantastic relationship with Jackett, but also would be a star player within the Pompey setup.
