It is probably fair to say that Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom is desperate for a few good performances from his side during the final three games of the campaign after a sticky start to life at Elland Road for the ex-Barnsley man.

Leeds were cruising at the start of the 2017/18 campaign but a turgid run of form has seen them fizzle out into mid-table mediocrity over the past few months, much to the disappointment of the club's supporters.

A club the size of the Whites should at the very least be challenging in the higher echelons of the Sky Bet Championship but that simply hasn't happened this season, and it certainly hasn't happened since Heckingbottom took charge.

It is the time of the year when supporters begin to cast their votes for their favourite performer over the past nine months and Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at two frontrunners for Player of the Season.

The Swedish central defender is a firm fan favourite and it would represent no real surprise if he collected the Player of the Year accolade.

The 27-year-old has featured 39 times for the Whites this season and his form has not deterred throughout the campaign, with the strong defender looking likely to be a big player for the club next season too.

The 27-year-old has proved a quality acquisition for the Whites this season and his five goals and eight assists have ensured a decent maiden campaign in the Championship.

Saiz's all action performances have put Leeds fans on the edge of their seats at times this season and they will be hoping to keep him from the clutches of bigger clubs this summer.

Leeds United fans, would you be happy with one of these players winning Player of the Year? Let us know in the comments below!!!
