It’s not been the most encouraging start to the season for West Bromwich Albion, who many expected to take the Championship by storm with a hugely talented squad.

Darren Moore has a pool of talented players at his disposal, but they will enter this weekend’s round of fixtures outside the top-six after enduring a difficult run of form lately.

A winless run of four fixtures has seen the Baggies slide out of the play-off places, with the talented squad at the Hawthorns even losing to a lowly Hull City last weekend.

A report in the Birmingham Mail has revealed that Moore already has one eye on the January transfer window, as he looks to add to the talented group he has on his hands.

A centre-back is likely to be on the radar given West Brom’s defensive struggles, as well as a box-to-box midfielder.

Here at FLW, we identify TWO players Moore should be targeting…

Mepham is one of the Championship’s most highly-rated centre-backs.

The 21-year-old is developing nicely at Brentford, with a big future ahead of him.

West Brom need to spend to strengthen their defence, and although Mepham would cost, Moore should part with big money to sign him.

He’s good on the ball, which Moore wants, and is more than good enough defensively.

Hayden was part of Newcastle’s promotion-winning squad a couple of years ago, but has struggled to establish himself in the North East since then.

The 23-year-old could come in and bring some youth and energy to West Brom’s midfield, as well as providing some cover in other areas.

He’d be a shrewd addition to Moore’s midfield.
