Barnsley have not started the season particularly well, and find themselves sitting one place above the relegation zone after just five games.

Daniel Stendel will be hoping that his side can pick up some points when they travel to Wigan on Saturday, in what is a big game for both sides.

After a hefty amount of transfer business, and a promotion last season, the Reds have a number of players who may well be wondering where game time is going to come from this season.

Here are TWO players that Barnsley should look to loan out this season...

Jacob Brown

This may be a controversial one, but the 21-year-old has struggled to get into the first team squad this season, albeit he has had injuries but with Stendel's additions it will be hard for him to cement a place in the squad this time around.

The step-up may have come a bit soon for Brown, and he has to think for his own well-being. He won't want to be a squad player and will want to playing week-in week-out, especially at the age that he's currently at.

A lot of League One teams could do a lot worse than Brown, and he would be ideal for a club targeting promotion to the Championship which would then mean that he could come back to Barnsley a better player from the experience.

Jack Walton

The keeper isn't going to get any game time at Barnsley and could seriously benefit from a loan move. He's still just 21-years-old, but he'll be hoping that he can finally complete a loan move that is higher than the level of Staybridge Celtic, where he spent three spells at on loan in previous seasons.

For Walton to realise any possible potential that he has, he must be playing games. At the Tykes this season, he's not going to be played or even put on the substitute's bench, so he needs to find a club that will give him that game time.

It will be interesting to see if a League Two club will come in and take the gamble on a loan for the keeper before deadline on September 2nd.
