Peterborough United began their 2021/22 Championship campaign with a thumping 3-0 defeat against Luton Town.

Posh's defeat at Kenilworth Road was the club's first game back in the Championship for over eight years - with Peterborough getting relegated with 54 points the last time they were in the division.

To best prepare themselves for the rigours of the higher division, nine new arrivals have made Peterborough their home this summer, and it seems that Posh have tried to strike a balance between exciting, youthful talent, and Championship experience and know-how.

However, a couple of vital first-team players could still head towards the exit door before the August deadline.

Here, we take a look at two players who could still depart before September 1st...

Siriki Dembele

Bournemouth, Fulham, and Stoke City have all been credited with an interest in Siriki Dembele, as per a report from print edition of The Sun on Sunday (01.08).

The creative spark netted 11 times last season and provided a further 12 assists, in a season where Peterborough looked frightening going forward.

The 24-year-old has blistering pace to operate as a striker who plays off the shoulder of defenders, but he also has the technical ability and vision to play as an attacking midfielder, to feed the striker.

The Sun's report states that Peterborough value Dembele at £4 million, but the teams in pursuit are not willing to go above £2.5 million.

Jonson Clarke-Harris

Jonson Clarke-Harris enjoyed a tremendous 2020/21 campaign, scoring 31 goals in 45 league outings, playing an integral role in the club's eventual promotion.

The striker was brought in with the very difficult task of filling Ivan Toney's boot, with his goal return suggesting that he certainly did do that.

Rangers, Sheffield United, West Brom, and Bournemouth are just some of the clubs who have been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old, but it remains to be seen if a move is made in what remains of this transfer window.

Peterborough will be holding out for a sizeable offer for their talismanic figure. Not only did Clarke-Harris prove to be an excellent scorer of goals last time out, but his ability to link up with his midfielders and other forwards helped progress attacking moves.
