It is shaping up to be another busy summer transfer window for Nottingham Forest, as Chris Hughton looks to revamp his squad.

Forest endured a frustrating 2020/21 campaign, finishing 17th in the Championship and scoring only 37 goals in 46 games.

Last summer, the club made 13 new signings before Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed and Hughton was appointed as his successor.

Those wholesale changes failed to pay off, though, and Hughton is now left with the massive task of reshaping his squad ahead of next season.

With five loan players now back at their parent clubs and the seven out of contract unlikely to be offered new deals, that's 12 players who may be let go already.

But who else faces uncertain futures at the City Ground? Here, we take a look at two Forest players who may never put on a Reds shirt again and why...

Harry Arter

Arter was one of the 17 signings Forest made over the course of this season, arriving on a three-year deal from Bournemouth in September.

The 31-year-old, who won promotion with Fulham last season, has completely failed to live up to expectations and has failed to make an impact this season.

Arter has made only 13 appearances in the Championship this term, starting on only eight occasions, and wasn't named in the matchday squad for the last 23 games of the campaign.

It is understood that Arter has been told to find a new club, after financial demands saw a loan move away fail to materialise in January.

Fouad Bachirou

Bachirou was another signing made by Forest last summer, with the midfielder penning a two-year deal and arriving from Malmo.

The Comoros international has since made only three appearances for Forest, with only one of those appearances coming in the Championship.

That appearance was a cameo against Barnsley in January, where he came on for the final half-hour in a goalless home draw with the Tykes.

He is another one who is believed to have been told to find a new club, after what has been a hugely disappointing spell in the East Midlands.
