Millwall had a slight upturn in form in the last few weeks, resulting in Neil Harris being nominated for the Sky Bet Championship manager of the month award.

He narrowly missed out on the gong as his side came crashing down to earth after last week’s defeat to Brentford.

It was an abject performance having lost just one if their previous six matches before the London derby.

Millwall dropped to 19th and are just one point above the bottom three heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

The Lions have a small squad, and some players look to be tiring after the relentless schedule of the second-tier.

After tomorrow’s match with Norwich, the teams in the Championship get a two-week break to accommodate the last round of international fixtures before the turn of the year.

That will give Harris the perfect chance to asses his squad again and possibly take a closer look at some of the Lions’ youngsters.

There is no reason why the academy players can’t play a part in Millwall’s mission to move up the league.

With that said, here are two Millwall youngsters that Harris should take a closer look at during the international break

The young midfielder was snapped up from Arsenal a couple of years ago and has impressed in the U23s since.

He has made the bench a couple of times during his time at The Den but so far failed to make his first-team debut.

Assured and accomplished in the middle of the pitch, he could be a player that Neil Harris takes a closer look at during the next two weeks, especially with Shaun Williams away on international duty.

The 19-year-old is highly regarded at Millwall and is blessed with lightning pace and skill in abundance.

Lewis White has been in-and-around the first-team this season and has even made the bench on the odd occasion.

So far he has not played for the first-team, but he is a regular in the U23s and possesses all the talent to make the step up.

With the festive fixtures fast approaching and the number of games played in a short space of time increased, the two-week break will give Neil Harris the perfect chance to reassess the youngster who has been on the radar of the senior squad for a little while now.
