Cardiff City will be aiming for their first away success of the Championship season when they travel to face Millwall at The Den this evening.

Neil Warnock's side have made a solid start on their return to the second tier following their relegation last term but, while they remain unbeaten on home soil, their away form has somewhat let them down.

The Bluebirds are now sitting 12th in the Championship table following their 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, and they will now be desperate for their first victory on the road tonight ahead of their trip to Swansea in the South Wales Derby on the weekend.

They are set to face a Millwall side who are stilling reeling following their 3-2 defeat to Brentford on the weekend, where Adam Barrett's side led the Bees 2-0 until their dramatic collapse within the last 10 minutes.

Millwall have appointed a new manager since then with Gary Rowett now set to take charge at The Den ahead of their clash with Stoke on the weekend, but Barrett will remain in charge for the visit of Cardiff this evening.

Here are two Millwall weaknesses Cardiff will look to exploit tonight...

Millwall are currently lacking the mental strength to see out matches

Saturday's match was the latest example of Millwall's consistent inability to see out a game from a winning position, as this flaw was ultimately what led to Neil Harris' resignation after the 1-1 draw with Luton earlier this month.

Brentford did dominate Millwall for large portions of the match, but this should not excuse the Lions for failing to see out the match as they were firmly in the ascendency with 10 minutes to go.

The Lions will be hoping that Rowett's imminent involvement with the first-team squad can help resolve this issue, but it's certainly possible that there will be a hangover following the 3-2 defeat to Brentford.

This is an issue Cardiff will certainly look to capitalise on if they need to.

Cardiff have every chance of dominating the midfield battle

Warnock was forced into an early substitution during Cardiff's clash with Wednesday as Leandro Bacuna was withdrawn in the first half as a result of the lack of balance between himself, Marlon Pack and Joe Ralls.

The Cardiff boss should now be in a position to field a more effective midfield set-up against the Lions, who were dominated in the centre of the park by Brentford at Griffin Park on the weekend.

The likes of Shaun Williams and Jayson Molumby were overrun by the Bees and Cardiff should look to target this area as a route to success. Pack and Ralls possess the ability to control the midfield, and they could easily have a field day at The Den.
