Millwall haven’t made the best start to the season. They’ve won just 3 matches out of 11 in the league and sit 15th and are in a bit of a tough period.
Club legend as a player, Neil Harris, resigned as manager two weeks ago after their poor start to the season. But, still hasn’t been replaced properly with Millwall considering a range of young managers. Harris managed the club since 2015 and won 42% of his matches. The London side sit 6 points above the relegation zone and although they have some room to breathe now, they could easily be dragged into a relegation scrap. Millwall fans will be hoping for the ‘new manager bounce’ and that players step up. Millwall made 10 signings in the summer including three loans. Who hasn't made the start Millwall had hoped for... Jon Dadi Bodvarsson Despite being limited to largely substitute appearances last season, the Icelandic international scored 7 goals in just 914 minutes, averaging a goal every 130 minutes. The big striker caused excitement among fans upon signing but has so far been underwhelming and struggled to make an impact. Although he scored a brace in the league cup against Oxford, in the League he hasn't been able to take advantage of the chances given to him by the management staff and is without a goal or assist after 207 minutes. Goalscoring isn't the only part of a striker's game. But, he's only won 6 of his 24 aerial duels, which is 25%. You'd expect a lot more from a 6'3" striker. He's attempted very few passes, only completing 58% of them and has lost the ball way too much, not being able to hold up the ball or take it under his control. He hasn't played enough to make any conclusions about him as a player really but his performances so far have been very underwhelming. Jayson Molumby The Brighton loanee has been given four starts in the league, as well as two in the League Cup. This has been the 20-year-old's first taste of senior football. He's a versatile midfielder who can fill various roles and can easily be described as an all-rounder. He's got high work rate and works hard for his team. However, the Irish youth international hasn't set the league alight. At times his lack of experience shows and he can struggle with the physicality of the league and can't always keep up with the high tempo of the game. He commits 2.2 fouls per game and although his defensive output is decent, he also gets beaten a lot. As a good passer who will learn a lot and grow throughout the season, he'll be able to fight his way back into the team but needs to make more of an impact on the ball.
