After a lightning fast start to the season, which saw them sitting top of the pile, Norwich have capitulated and dropped down to ninth position, five points outside the Play-Offs.

Canaries boss, Alex Neil, has come under severe pressure of late but he has managed to come through with his job still intact, which has brought mixed views amongst Norwich supporters.

With the squad Neil has at his disposal, you would expect Norwich to be doing a lot better than they are, but their result over Derby last time out showed that maybe their fortunes may be starting to change.

A 3-0 victory over the Rams showed that on their day, Norwich are a very good side but they need to find some consistency and that could come with some quality additions in January.

One area they could look to improve is midfield.

With Robbie Brady looking likely to leave, they will probably need a new winger and some extra quality in centre midfield wouldn't go amiss.

Here, FLW's Chris Wilson looks at TWO midfielders who Norwich should try and sign this month.....

Conor Hourihane

Hourihane has taken the Championship by storm this season with Barnsley and he has arguably been the league's best newcomer this season.

The Irish midfielder has been a driving force in Barnsley's success this season and he has been one of the main reasons they are on the brink of the top six.

Hourihane provides a goal scoring threat from midfield and those types of players normally don't come cheap.

However, the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international's contract is up in the summer and he has stalled over signing a new deal, so the Tykes could cash in on him this month.

Bakary Sako

Sako has fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace, so Sam Allardyce could look to sell him to reinvest the funds on another player.

NumerousChampionship clubs have been linked with the winger, so Norwich will most likely face stiff competition to sign the Malian international.

Sako has proved his Championship credentials in recent years, he was a key player in Wolves success back in 2014/15 ,when Wolves came so close to getting into the Play-Offs.

If Norwich can get him playing like he was in that season, then they could have a very good player on their hands.
