It's been a disappointing season for Aston Villa, and to the untrained eye, it could seemingly be made worse by the departure of Jordan Amavi.

Despite suffering a lengthy injury, Amavi was one of Villa's outstanding players last season in the Premier League, and his start to life at Villa Park was electric.

This generated an enormous amount of interest over the summer, following Villa's relegation to the Championship, and speculation continued throughout the window as to whether he'd stay at the club.

He eventually did, and for those who don't watch Villa on a consistent basis, he'd usually be pointed to as one of the side's best players.

Villa fans will tell you otherwise.

The Frenchman has been berated at times this season for his less then impressive performances.

However, he is still very young, meaning there is an awful lot of time to grow and develop into an outstanding player.

Here are TWO reasons why Amavi would want to leave Villa for Napoli, who have been linked with a move for him this week.

Napoli is a big, big club

Aston Villa are a very reputable club, particularly in the context of the Championship, but the temptation to join a club of Napoli's stature may be too much for Amavi.

The club look extremely good for Champions League football next year, currently third in the table with seven games to go and a seven point lead over rivals Lazio.

To play in the Champions League is such a big deal for players, and for Amavi this is a deal that could be too good to turn down.

The fans aren't pleased

As mentioned in the introduction, Villa fans have been unconvinced by Amavi since his return from injury, and he's endured as flat a campaign as Villa themselves.

Villa brought in Neil Taylor from Swansea City over January to bolster their options at left back, and fans seemingly believe that he is turning out to be the better option.

It wouldn't make much sense for Amavi to stay where he isn't wanted, and fans may end up celebrating his departure.
