Leeds United had a terrific season in the Championship this year, finishing 7th and just one position and 5 points outside the Play-Offs.

Under the leadership of Gary Monk, the Yorkshire outfit managed to amass 22 victories from their 46 games, but a record of just 2 wins in their final 10 games ultimately cost them a place in the Championship play-offs this term.

Following the close of the season, all the speculation was around Monk's future at Elland Road, and it looked like he was ready to sign a new contract following the takeover of the club, only to resign from his position as head coach two days after new owner Andrea Radrizzani completed his takeover.

Since his departure, Leeds have brought in Victor Orta as director of football, following his exit from Middlesborough, so whoever the club decide to appoint as the new manager is going to have to accept working under a director of football.

Even though Leeds had a terrific season, one area that they need to improve ahead of the new season is in their striking department, as last season they relied on New Zealand international Chris Wood.

Wood found the back of the net on 27 occasions and provided four goals for his teammates, but with Leeds only scoring 61 goals throughout the Championship campaign, it is clear to see that Wood is going to need support up top next season to hopefully get Leeds over the line to achieve a Play-Off spot.

Two players that Leeds should turn to are West Ham's Martin Samuelson and Tottenham Hotspur Joshua Onomah.

Martin Samuelsen

The youngster started his career in his native Norway at Vard Haugesund, before moving to Manchester City and playing regularly in their Elite Development Squad, before making the move to West Ham in 2015.

Samuelson has got Football League experience as he has had stints at Peterborough United and Blackburn Rovers. This season for West Ham in Premier League 2, he found the back of the net on 4 occasions in 11 games showing that he does have an eye for goal and could help Leeds fight for promotion next season.

Joshua Onomah

An England U-21 star, he has both Premier League and Champions League experience under his belt for Tottenham, but due to other players that play the same position as him he comes off the bench most of the time for Spurs, so may look for a loan move away to get regular first team football.
