2 Leeds United stars who simply have to step up to the plate in the promotion run-in

Leeds United lost out in the big game of the weekend as Sheffield United took all three points in a closely contested fixture at Elland Road.

The loss leaves Leeds in third just a point behind the Blades still, but it was a crucial fixture what could have massive implications on the rest of the campaign going forward.

It wasn’t a particularly bad performance either by Marcelo Bielsa’s men, who played some nice stuff and simply failed to take their chances as the resilient Blades hung on for the win.

However, it will have to spark the Whites into life going into the final few weeks of the campaign if they are to win automatic promotion, and we here at FLW think that the Yorkshire club are going to need one or two of their big name players to step up to the plate if they are to see success.

With so little of the season remaining, that got us here at FLW thinking about just who needs to perform for Leeds, and we took a look then at TWO Leeds United players who need step up in the coming weeks to ensure Bielsa’s men are in the hunt come the end of April…

Patrick Bamford

With Kemar Roofe out injured, it’s vital that Bamford steps up and smashes the goals in for the Whites.

He has been in decent form in fairness to him, but a quiet game yesterday left a few question marks over his overall contribution to the cause.

If he can fire in the goals, there’s every chance Leeds make the top two.

Jack Clarke

If there was ever a time for a player to emerge from the shadows and be the hero, then that time is now.

Clarke is back from injury, and should be raring to go as he looks for a strong finish to the season.

The young winger has all the potential to be a star, and it would be quite fitting to see Clarke step up and play a big part in a Leeds promotion party.
