2 knock-on effects if West Brom win race for Premier League forward

Published

on

West Brom’s poor form continued last night as they were beaten 2-1 at Cardiff City.

Even though Slaven Bilic’s side remain in the top two, they are seven without a win in the league and their 12-point lead over third place has been cut to two.

So, concern from the fans is understandable and it has increased the calls for new signings, with bringing in a forward the priority.

And, Bristol Live have claimed that Matej Vydra is a target.

The Czech international spent a year with the club when they were in the Premier League in the past and struggled to make an impact, however he has proven himself in the Championship over the years.

Therefore, he would be a good addition for the Baggies and here we outline TWO knock-on effects his arrival would have at The Hawthorns…

He fires Albion to promotion

It’s no exaggeration to suggest that Vydra could be the catalyst to getting Albion’s season back on track.

As mentioned, he has proven himself time and time again in the second tier over the years and he almost guarantees goals.

If he can do that again, he could be the man to take the club back to the Premier League. They are lacking a regular goalscorer and need someone to step up – Vydra could do just that.

QUIZ: Can you name the season in which these 14 West Brom images were taken?

What season did Igor Balis score this crucial penalty?

Kenneth Zohore moves on

Bilic generally plays with one up top and whilst Vydra could play as an attacking midfielder, he would be signed to lead the line.

That would give the boss four options, with Charlie Austin, Hal Robson-Kanu and Kenneth Zohore to choose from as well.

Clearly, someone will miss out and you would imagine the Danish target man will struggle the most.

Whether he has time to secure a move away this month or has to wait until the summer, a new forward coming is likely to be the beginning of the end for Zohore at West Brom.
