Queens Park Rangers had a very subdued January transfer window.

The loan-signing of Jack Clarke was the only last month. Fans were expecting a bit more of Mark Warburton in the transfer window but he played his cards close to his chest, and will likely have been saving the pennies for a summer spending spree.

With that in mind, here's two January transfer targets that QPR should move for again in the summer:

Lawrence Shankland

It's not like QPR weren't linked with any incoming players last month, they just didn't follow through with any. One signing that fans really wanted to see happen was Dundee United's Lawrence Shankland.

The 24-year-old has has an unbelievable season so far - he's scored 24 goals in 23 Scottish Championship games, got his first senior call-up for Scotland and also scored his first goal at international level.

He looks a real quality striker and it's surprising that QPR looked to be one of the few teams monitoring him last month. Though with the summer coming up, QPR are set to lose Jordan Hugill who'll return to parent-club West Ham, and that'll leave Aramide Oteh as the club's sole striker.

Hugill has been a hard-working player for QPR this season and has so far been delivering the goods. But he's likely out of QPR's price-range, and fans would much rather see a younger, hungrier Shankland come to the club.

Scott McKenna

Another Scotland international, Scott McKenna is a centre-back playing with Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen. The 23-year-old first emerged as target of QPR's in the summer but to no avail. The rumours then resurfaced in the build-up to January and it looked like a move could be on the cards, but it never progressed beyond that.

Warburton should look to sign McKenna again in the summer though, with the likes of Toni Leistner all-but gone, and Grant Hall yet to renew his contract. It'll leave a massive void in the QPR defence if both do depart, and McKenna would be more than a suitable replacement.

He plays with maturity beyond his age. He's a really calm defender who can pass the ball, but knows when the clear the danger. That sort of player would greatly compliment QPR's style of play under Warburton, and fans would love to see a young gun come through the doors.

McKenna could partner Conor Masterson in the QPR defence next season - it'd be a centre-pairing with a combined aged less than that of Warburton, but one that the club could look to build a team around, and to put them in contention for a top-six spot next season.
