After a lacklustre start to the season, Queens Park Rangers parted ways with manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who had been at the club for 11 months after joining from League One leaders Burton Albion.

The 44-year-old had worked wonders at Burton, lifting them from League Two to League One and setting the platform for promotion to the Championship.

The Dutchman failed to replicate that at QPR and was eventually dismissed for both results-based reasons and because of the poor football style that he was deploying.

Club legend Ian Holloway returned to Loftus Road, where he served as both a player and a manager.

His first game in charge saw QPR emerge as 2-1 victors over Norwich (who seem to be in free-fall).

They received a helping hand - quite literally - when Olsson was sent off after two minutes for a handball and they played well in the first half.

The second half, however, was same old QPR so Holloway needs to act in the January window.

Here are two things he needs to do.

Keep Chery

Tjaronn Chery

QPR's star man Tjaronn Chery is likely to be subject to plenty of January interest.

The 28-year-old is QPR's best attacking outlet and he provides plenty of goals and assists for QPR.

The Dutch attacking midfielder might be tempted to jump ship in January if QPR are struggling in the second tier but Holloway needs to make it his priority to keep Chery at the club.

Two in two out up front

El Khayati

Ian Holloway needs to get rid of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's attacking duo Conor Washington and Nasser El Khayati.

Washington scored his second goal in 26 games for QPR in Holloway's first game in charge but he is not the striker that the Hoops need and those wages are better off elsewhere.

El Khayati was a key part of Hasselbaink's Burton side but he is out of his depth in the second tier and he is another that could be shipped out to free space for another incoming player.
