2 Ipswich Town players who could be subject to January transfer interest and why

Ipswich Town have endured a patchy start to their Sky Bet League One campaign this season, with the Tractor Boys currently off the pace in the race for promotion.

Paul Cook was handed a substantial budget during the summer by the club’s newly employed CEO Mark Ashton and quickly set about tearing up the existing squad that he inherited from Paul Lambert at Portman Road.

A total of 19 new signings followed, with Town going big on wages in order to secure some of the best talent that both League One and the lower depths of the Championship had to offer as the likes of Joe Pigott and Connor Chaplin arrived to supplement the attack alongside the more defensive permanent signings of George Edmundson and Cameron Burgess.

However despite there being numerous departures from the club over the summer, there are still some players left in East Anglia that could be looking to move away in the new year.

Quiz: Do you know what club these 28 ex-Ipswich Town players are playing at now?

What club does Luke Chambers now play for?

Here, we take a look at TWO Ipswich Town players who could be subject to January transfer interest and why…

Tomas Holy

With Christian Walton and Vaclav Hladky having clearly secured themselves as the club’s first two choices between the sticks at Portman Road, it appears that Holy could well depart in the new year.

The experienced 29-year-old most recently completed an emergency loan move to Cambridge United in order to cover for the U’s whilst they go through an injury crisis.

Although that move will offer a short term solution to his lack of game time, things look bleak for the shot stopper on the whole.

A player of Holy’s experience is almost certain to attract interest come the turn of the new year and he is sure to be keeping his options open moving forwards.

Kayden Jackson

The striker is currently out of favour under Cook and has been widely linked with a departure as far back as last season.

Now aged 27, Jackson should be in the prime of his career, however he is yet to have found the back of the net this season and has only been afforded 19 minutes of league football.

The club strengthened their front line significantly over the summer with the additions of Pigott, Chaplin, Macauley Bonne, Sone Aluko and Louie Barry which has meant that the former Accrington Stanley man has slipped to the bottom of the pecking order.

It therefore seems all the more likely that he will depart for pastures new when January rolls around, with there sure to be plenty of suitors in the market for his services.
