Pompey were close to reaching the play-offs in their first season back in League One.

Injuries had a major impact on Kenny Jackett's side because they had limited options available for a lot of matches and had to rely on loanees to fill the gaps. However, they still managed to finish eighth with a five-point gap separating them from the play-offs.

Therefore, a healthy squad and a few improvements should see them finish in the top six next year.

Here are four transfer dealings that Jackett should consider in the summer...

Rose only played 15 games this season due to injury, so the impact he could have was limited, but Pompey have performed well without him and Jackett could bring in a better option in the summer.

They can't afford to take risks next season and Rose represents that because he is 30-years-old and has injury issues. Selling him and bringing in a younger player suited to this level would be the best move for the club.

Moncur could be a player that they could bring in to replace Rose because he recently got relegated with Barnsley and they may seek to get rid of him in order to hold on to some of their more prized possessions while also generating funds for their own transfer dealings.

He struggled at times in the Championship, but he is only 24-years-old, so he has room for improvement and is likely to be good enough for League One.

Evans was one of the few players that could be relied upon for Portsmouth because he made 32 league appearances. However, the issue was his contribution because he only scored twice and assisted three from the flanks.

He is 30-years-old, so he is already at his peak which means the club should consider looking for other players and selling him on. The competition for places is likely to be much tougher without an injury crisis and Evans is one who is likely to miss out, so joining another club would be best for his career.

Bent is coming to the twilight of his career, so he has started to gradually play for teams lower down the divisions. This season he was on loan at Burton from Derby, but his contract runs out in June.

Therefore, he would represent an excellent opportunity for Portsmouth because he would be a great option for this level while also not requiring a lot financially to bring him in. He could form a deadly partnership alongside Brett Pitman while also being an excellent alternative if Pitman were to pick up an injury.
