Reading have made a disappointing start to their league campaign this season and with the club sat 22nd in the Championship, many Royals fans will be fearing the club will drop into League 1 next season.

Paul Clement's side have struggled for consistency for the majority of the season and he will be bitterly disappointed with their start to the season and there is a real concern it could be a downward spiral from here.

Some of the signings the club has made during the summer have proved to be good additions, whilst there have been a number of players that haven't stepped up to the plate this season for the Royals.

Royals fans will be hoping they can turn their poor run of form around as quickly as possible as they face Bristol City at the Madejski Stadium at the weekend.

But what transfer business does the Reading boss need to address in January?

Find out here....

Aluko arrived from Fulham in the summer of 2017 and it's fair to say that his time at Reading has been anything but a success.

The Nigerian has scored just three goals in 39 appearances for the Royals and his apparent lack of effort and lacklustre attitude has seen fans be highly critical of the winger.

He arrived for a hefty fee when he signed so Reading will be tempted to try and get as much money back as possible from the underperforming forward.

The Romanian is another winger that has failed to make the mark at Reading.

Popa has made just 16 appearances in all competitions since arriving in January 2017 and he is yet to feature for Reading this season and his future at the club seems in doubt.

The forgotten Norwich striker has well-publicised attitude issues whilst at the club but he could be worth a punt for Reading.

With Jon Dadi Bodvarsson the club's top goalscorer being the main outlet for goals in this Reading team, Clement could be tempted to add to his strike-force in order to help aid his side's chances in their relegation battle.

Maddison scored 12 goals last season for Peterborough and was the league's in-demand player from League 1 but a move didn't materialise in the summer and it hasn't got any better for the midfielder since.

But the winger has been limited to just four starts this season and is surely heading for the exit door and Reading are likely to be among the potential suitors to sign Maddison.

He would be worth the risk and can change the course of a game on his own, so Clement should definitely be considering a move for the Peterborough man.
