Full focus at Villa Park is going to be on the Sky Bet Championship’s play-offs, with Aston Villa well in the hunt for a Premier League return.

Steve Bruce’s side are in full control of their play-off semi-final clash with Middlesbrough having recorded a 1-0 victory in Saturday’s first-leg.

Villa welcome Boro to Villa Park this evening, where they will be looking to finish the job they’ve started and secure a place in the play-off final at Wembley.

Promotion is all that will be on anybody’s mind at Villa Park right now, but just around the corner is a huge summer for Bruce.

Changes are going to have to be made to Villa’s playing squad ahead of next season, whatever division Villa find themselves in, which is something Bruce will be well aware of.

With that in mind, we take a look at TWO players who would improve Villa’s squad and TWO that Bruce needs to be moving on…

Hernandez is available on a free this summer, with his contract at Hull expiring.

The striker has previously worked with Steve Bruce at the KCOM Stadium and would undoubtedly improve Villa’s strikeforce.

There will be competition in the race to sign Hernandez, but Villa could have an edge.

McCormack’s days at Villa Park are numbered, with the Scottish striker having no future under Bruce.

Currently, McCormack is picking up a wage for not doing much, which will frustrate the club.

Villa will look to move him on as soon as possible.

Bryan has been one of the Championship’s standout left-backs for Bristol City this season.

It will cost Villa, and they might only be able to lure Bryan to the Midlands if they are a Premier League side, but it could be worth it.

Left-back has been a problem position this season, which needs to be addressed.

Taylor’s form at left-back has been a real disappointment and Villa’s supporters aren’t impressed.

If Bruce targets a fresh face to come in on that side of the defence this summer, it is safe to say that Taylor could be axed.

The Welshman has experience, but has shown a lack of quality this season.
