Huddersfield Town host Middlesbrough tonight, knowing a win would take them out of the bottom three in the Championship.

Since the arrival of Danny Cowley, The Terriers’ form has significantly improved. In their last three matches, Huddersfield picked up back-to-back wins against Stoke City and Hull City, before drawing 2-2 at Ewood Park on Saturday.

As for Jonathan Woodgate’s form, they are in dismal run of form and will be desperate to pick up an important win tonight. The Teesiders are without a win in five games, and have lost their last two games on the road at Cardiff City and Birmingham City.

It’s a massive opportunity for both managers to gain confidence boosting wins, that will take them clear of the relegation zone.

So, lets look at a couple of weaknesses at Huddersfield that Middlesbrough will be looking to take advantage of tonight.

Huddersfield don't have the best record at home

The Terriers haven’t won back-to-back home games since October 2017 and that tells a story in itself. Even this season, Cowley’s side have picked up just four points at home.

Boro will fancy themselves to score at least a couple of goals, and defend deep to counter Huddersfield’s attacking threats.

Marvin Johnson and Marcus Tavernier are particularly quick, and both will be looking to see plenty of the ball and hurt a Huddersfield defence that have looked frail at times this season.

Terence Kongolo is injured

The Dutch defender is strong, physical and wins the ball back for Huddersfield, and has been impressive for the Terriers this term.

Kongolo is unlikely to feature as he recovers from injury, which will offer Boro hope. Ashley Fletcher against Kongolo would’ve been an interesting battle, however you have to favour Fletcher to hold the ball up and bring others into play, when Huddersfield are without their towering defender.

Middlesbrough have to play Fulham and QPR within their next three matches, two sides that are challenging for a play-off spot this season.

In his short reign, this is undoubtedly Woodgate’s biggest test as Middlesbrough manager. A win could kick-start their season and they'll fancy their chances of coming away with a positive result with Kongolo out.
