Rotherham United have had a mixed start to life back in League One. They sit 10th in the table after 11 games, winning five, whilst drawing and losing three a piece.

The Millers have won their last two league games after seeing off Blackpool 2-1 at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. The victory leaves them only two points behind sixth-placed Blackpool with two early games in hand.

Here we look at two players who are currently hot for The Millers and those who are not.

Hot - Freddie Ladapo

A summer signing for the Millers from Plymouth Argyle. Ladapo was Argyle's top scorer last season with 18 League One goals and was one of the players who left the club following the Pilgrims' relegation to the fourth tier.

The Millers reportedly paid a club record fee believed to be in the region of around £500,000 for Ladapo and he has so far scored four goals and assisted one in twelve matches, and is currently their top scorer.

Last season was his best goal scoring season yet and so far this term he looks as if he will continue that form. The Millers have shown they can bounce back from relegation having done so in the 2017-18 season.

If Ladapo can continue his early season form he will play a pivotal role in Rotherham's push for promotion.

Hot - Micheal Smith

Michael Smith has provided some extra fire power alongside Freddie Ladapo over the last few games, he has found the net three times (in the Millers' last two games) and provided two assists so far this season.

He has featured 11 times so far for United this season and will be looking to build on the eight Championship goals he scored last term.

Since arriving in January 2018, Smith has been ever present in Paul Warne's side and at 27, brings experience to the side.

He also has experience in promotion with Rotherham and if he keeps up his goal scoring form, could help lead Rotherham back to the second tier.

Not - Kyle Vassell

Kyle Vassell must be feeling frustrated at the moment. Manager Paul Warne described him as the Millers' standout player over their pre-season preparation but has seen his opportunities at the New York Stadium this term limited to just two appearances so far.

Despite this Vassell scored in The Millers' 4-0 demolition of Shrewsbury Town in August but since has found his opportunities few and far between.

Vassell made 23 appearances for Rotherham last term and will be hoping to break back into the first team to raise his stock once more.

Billy Jones

Another experienced player, Billy Jones has been limited to just two league appearances for the Millers this term. After arriving at the New York Stadium in July last summer and made 21 appearances in the Championship for them last season.

Jones was unfortunate at the start of the season to be ruled out through injury but has only appeared once off the bench for the club since.

The former Sunderland man will be eager to return to the starting XI and prove himself as a key player for Untied during their League One campaign.

He can no doubt be a key player this season for the Millers, if he can breakthrough back into the first team. Although he must be frustrated through lack of playing time, Jones could quickly re-establish himself in the Rotherham XI.
