Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season and SabrI Lamouchi has had a fine few months in charge of the Reds.

Of course, he deserves the most credit for the current position the side are in. He is the one that has quickly instilled a fighting spirit in this team and it is his organisation and tactical approach that has made them hard to beat.

However, those in the recruitment team should also take plenty of plaudits for Forest's positive start.

The likes of Brice Samba, Yuri Ribeiro, Samba Sow and Tiago Silva, among others, have made an instant impression at the City Ground and look as though they will be key players moving forward.

And, another has been Sammy Ameobi.

Having arrived on a free from Bolton on a one-year deal, it's fair to say he may have been a somewhat underwhelming capture in the eyes of many.

But, as our graphic shows, he has quickly established himself as a regular under Lamouchi, featuring in 15 games so far this season.

Whilst you can argue that he should be doing more in terms of goals and assists, something he would probably agree with, it doesn't reflect on Ameobi's overall contribution.

The 11 shot assists prove he is getting in the right positions and providing his teammates with a chance to shoot and that stat suggests that the assists will improve for him as the campaign progresses.

As well as that, his 27 progressive runs is outstanding and highlights exactly what he brings to the team.

With his speed and size, the former Newcastle man is a tough player for opponent's to stop as he has the physical attributes to breeze past most he comes up against.

Even though his final ball can sometimes be unpredictable, evident with his cross accuracy percentage, those qualities give Forest a different threat in the final third and are useful in various situations.

For instance, he can carry the ball extremely well in transition which makes the Reds a dangerous prospect on the break, whilst he can also beat someone with his unpredictable skill and power which can unlock a deep block.

With his contract up at the end of the season, Ameobi will surely feel that his form in the opening third of the campaign warrants a longer deal and it would be hard to disagree with him.
