Matty Cash took an unconventional route into professional football, joining up with the FAB Academy after leaving Wycombe Wanderers as a youngster.

Now the 20-year old has a role at Championship side Nottingham Forest, although this season hasn't been the easiest for him.

An ankle injury kept him out of the early part of the campaign, but under Aitor Karanka he's begun to thrive.

Is he ready to step up to the Scottish Premier League and perform at Ibrox, one of the biggest stages in the UK?

Cash returned to fitness in November, but appeared just a couple of times before Mark Warbuton moved on.

Since the former Boro boss arrived he's become a regular, scoring his first goals for the club. He's been given license to get forward more and has begun to find both goals and assists.

Since returning from injury, Cash has made 19 appearances for Forest scoring twice in matches against QPR and Birmingham. He's added two assists too, not bad for a 20-year old just making his way in the world.

He's good on the ball, averaging 1.3 dribbles per game, as well as finding 1.5 shots per game. With increased game time he's becoming more influential under the new manager.

He's also fouled 1.3 times per game, on average, which demonstrate he's getting on the ball regularly. That is likely to increase as his profile grows.

Missing the first half of the season might have put him out of sight for a while, but he's certainly back on the scene and beginning to make things happen.

Would he be a fit for Rangers? RB Leipzig had a £6m offer rebuffed back in January 2017, so there's every possibility he's already out of the Scottish side's reach.

There's little doubt he'd be a big addition to their squad, but if he keep up his recent form then he's going to be the subject of interest from much bigger clubs.
