Taking 12 points from their first 11 games was not the start to the season that Brentford fans were hoping for.

The Bees’ good form during the second part of last season has not carried through to this campaign, but Thomas Frank’s side will be looking to turn their fortunes around when they take on managerless Millwall at Griffin Park this Saturday.

Supporters will be hoping that the blow of losing Neal Maupay and Ezri Konsa in the summer will be softened by Ethan Pinnock stepping up at the back and Ollie Watkins continuing to shine up front. Another thing they’ll be hoping for is for their youth products to take their chance.

It is widely known that talented youngsters looking for game time look up to Brentford’s setup.

In 2016, the club scrapped its youth academy and instead have a ‘B’ team made up of talented youngsters from England and abroad, and it has been a successful innovation.

Here are two players on their books that we think you should be keeping your eye out for…

Mads Roerslev Rasmussen

The Dane is valued at £225k according to transfermarkt, and was signed by Brentford in the summer from Superliga side FC Copenhagen.

Roerslev Rasmussen has been capped by Denmark from the Under-17’s through to the Under-21’s, so the next step would be to impress B-team head coach, Neil Macfarlane, and eventually catch the eye of Thomas Frank.

At 20 years of age, he predominantly plays at right-back, and has previously worked with Frank when he was back plying his trade in Denmark.

Marcus Forss

The 20-year-old Finnish forward stepped up from Brentford B to the first-team in 2018, but was only able to make 6 Championship appearances last season.

His lack of game time prompted Thomas Frank to loan Forss to League One side AFC Wimbledon at the start of the season, where he has found the net 7 times in 6 games, also notching his professional hat-trick against Southend United last Saturday.

If he continues this form for the Dons, then Brentford may have to take the option to recall the young striker in January.
