Bristol City boss Dean Holden has done an impressive job in his first few months as the Robins' permanent boss.

City are fifth in the Championship as things stand and only outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

There's no doubt Holden has some talented players in his squad but he's not been helped by injuries, with a number of key men missing.

You feel the Robins may need to strengthen their squad if they're to keep pace with the division's top sides and with that in mind, we've outlined two free-agents they could realistically bring in to do just that.

Andre Green

In Antoine Semenyo, Famara Diedhiou, Nahki Wells, and Chris Martin, Holden has got a varied and strong striking unit.

However, beyond Semenyo and with Andi Weimann injured, it is not a forward line blessed with a huge amount of pace and that's an area in which City could improve.

With five substitutions and nine players on the bench now allowed in the EFL, having the option to throw on more pace could be very useful for the Robins.

Green could be that option. The 22-year-old is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa in the summer and has shown glimpses of his quality at Championship level in the past.

Free-agent signings can often be short-sighted but given his age, signing Green could be a move that benefits the Robins now and in the future.

Which club did Bristol City sign each of these 25 players from?

Kieron Freeman

The injury to Steven Sessegnon has left City short of options at right-back beyond first-choice Jack Hunt.

Adrian Mariappa filled in against QPR but while solid defensively offered little going forward and would not be viable as a wing-back.

Not only can is Freeman comfortable as both a right-back and a right wing-back, he left Sheffield United in the summer and is yet to find a new club, which could make him a fantastic and good value addition for City.

The 28-year-old has proven his quality previously and if they can get him back to the sort of form that saw him score 11 goals and add six assists in a single season for the Blades, it could be an absolute masterstroke.
