Stoke City currently sit 19th in the Championship standings, with the Potters sitting six points and three positions above the drop zone.

Alex Neil's side have lost four of their last five league matches in what has been a difficult start to the new year for the Staffordshire club.

Whilst the January transfer window came to an end a little under a week ago, the Potters could still use the free-agent market to add to their squad during what remains of this season.

Here, we take a look at two players who could actually be a good addition at the Bet 365 Stadium to help avoid the Potters being dragged into a relegation battle.

Danny Rose

Danny Rose has been a free agent since his contract at Watford expired in early September and Josh Tymon's situation could force the Potters into the left-back market.

Josh Tymon was taken to hospital on Saturday after being on the receiving end of a mistimed tackle from Luton Town's Cody Drameh.

At this stage, the extent of his injury is unknown and the outcome of Tymon's situation will ultimately have a big impact on looking at Rose as a potential option.

A player with lots of top-flight experience and game time on the international stage for England, the full-back provides both an attacking and defensive service.

It may be a difficult move to complete when considering wage demands but if he was to arrive it would likely be a deal until the end of the campaign.

Fitness levels might be another concern for the Potters, however, if Tymon is set to miss a large chunk of what remains, that might create an immediate need to bring a player like Rose in.

Connor Wickham

When looking at Stoke's striking options, there is scope for the Potters to bring in a forward who is able to offer more of a physical presence.

Connor Wickham enjoyed a productive start to the League One campaign in a Forest Green Rovers side who did not create an abundance of chances for the 29-year-old.

Perhaps it would not be the most inspiring signing in the world, however, adding his experience, ability in front of goals and physicality could be something that is looked into.

He would provide Neil with a different kind of striking option and he will bolster competition levels, whilst laying down a short-term deal for him should not bring about many difficulties.
