It's no secret that Leeds United have had their fair share of injuries this season, with the defence being a problem position that Marcelo Bielsa has had to deal with for the majority of the campaign.

Almost all of Leeds' first-team defenders have been injured at some stage during the season, which has led to a number of the club's academy players being thrown into the deep end with a senior start.

However, these youngsters haven't looked out of place at all in Bielsa's side and have played their part in Leeds' promotion push for the Premier League.

With the January transfer window now closed, it came as a surprise to see the Leeds boss not add some depth to his defensive areas.

He could be tempted to dip into the free agent market to add some much-needed to the Leeds defence for the remainder of this year's league campaign.

But which free agents should Leeds be looking to sign?

Find out below....

Philipp Wollscheid

The former Stoke centre-back could be the ideal signing for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.

He has Premier League experience and could be one of the signings that shows that the Leeds boss is planning for life in the top flight.

Wollscheid has been a free agent for almost a year now though, after cancelling his contract with French side, Metz in January 2018.

Johan Djourou

The former Arsenal defender has been a free agent since he mutually terminated his contract with Italian Serie A side, SPAL and he could be a useful addition to have to the Leeds squad.

At the age of 32, he could certainly do a job in the Championship, and has a vast amount of experience, both at club level and on the international stage.

He could have a positive impact both in the dressing room and on the pitch, and should be their top target before the season draws to a close.
