Birmingham City recorded a much-needed victory on Saturday when they comfortably beat Hull City 3-0 at St. Andrew's with Jota scoring a brace.

Whilst Blues remain in the relegation zone, Garry Monk's first win as manager is surely going to boost the confidence of his players ahead of several winnable games.

The key man behind Saturday's win was club-record signing Jota who had struggled badly since making the move from Brentford in the summer.

Under Steve Cotterill the 26-year old was a shadow of the player that mesmerised fans at Griffin Park last season and was frequently left on the bench towards the end of his reign.

However, Monk has shown real faith in the Spaniard, bringing him straight back into the team and playing him for the full 90 minutes in all three of his games.

And, Jota repaid him on Saturday with a decisive performance, as our graphic shows.

The former Eibar man was clinical in front of goal scoring from two of his four shots but it's that threat in front of goal that will really please Monk.

As well as that, he completed two dribbles and made 31 passes, highlighting how he was on the ball a lot, again something that had been missing.

Birmingham are still in a fight to preserve their Championship status but if Monk can continue to get the best out of Jota then it's a fight you'd expect them to win.
