The transfer window is always a busy time for any football manager, and Bristol City manager Lee Johnson will be hoping to get his transfer business done by Friday's deadline.

The Robins will be looking to tie up any loose deals and will be seeking reinforcements in a couple of key positions as the Championship club look to make their way into the playoff spots, with their Premier League dream so close to becoming a reality.

Johnson and City's recruitment team will be working overtime in the  next few days as they attempt to complete a January signing, and here are two deals that they should complete by the end of the week...

Nahki Wells

The Wells transfer has recently picked up pace with the 29-year-old having been recalled by Burnley from QPR, and the Robins will now want to be the first to land the experienced striker's signature.

The forward department has been light in cover for the Robins over the last few months, as they have been nursing the effects of Benik Afobe suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament during training in September.

With City gunning for a playoff spot, adding Wells to the mix could be the last piece of the jigsaw, however it could come at a cost with captain Josh Brownhill heading up north and to the dizzy heights of the Premier League.

If the Robins can land Wells in the next few days, then it could see their playoff push back on and be fully in swing as they attempt to reach the top flight.

Antoine Semenyo

The young striker is currently on the books of Bristol City, and has regularly been a member of the matchday squad at Ashton Gate this season as the 20-year-old has had to settle for third-choice option up front.

The youngster would benefit from going out and getting regular games somewhere else for the second half of the season, and if the Robins land Wells, then there is a strong chance that Semenyo does depart the club temporarily.

The former Newport County loanee would be a knock-on effect of Wells joining the club, but his departure on loan to a League One or League Two team would be a deal that Johnson is keen to tie up.

Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers are the two teams thought to be leading the race for his signature, and getting experience a league lower would suit the striker as he prepares for Championship football.
