Rotherham United have surprised many this season in the Championship and whilst the second-half of the season will be tough, there’s a real chance they’ll be able to retain their status in the second-tier.

Paul Warne has done a terrific job at the club who were expected to be rooted to the foot of the table. They’ve picked up a few impressive results along the way and earned plenty of praise from outsiders.

However, there’s a long way to go and survival isn’t achieved at Christmas, particularly for a club like Rotherham.

They need to keep spirit and add a little bit of quality at both ends of the field.

It’s unlikely that we will see huge money thrown at the squad in the New Year, but fresh faces will be expected.

With that in mind, we identify TWO deals that the Yorkshire outfit should be looking to complete early in 2019…

Smith finds himself on the fringe at QPR and Rotherham appear to share a good relationship with the R’s.

The powerful striker has his limitations, but he’s a nuisance and has a goal in him.

He could make a big impact at Rotherham in 2019.

It’s becoming fairly obvious that Carter-Vickers might be on the move when the New Year comes, with the Spurs youngster looking for another home.

That could be Rotherham.

More quality is needed in both boxes heading into 2019, and Carter-Vickers would improve Warne’s defence.
