Lincoln City have enjoyed an excellent start to the 2020/21 campaign, with the Imps fighting in the upper echelons of the Sky Bet League One table.

Despite a recent blip, Michael Appleton's side sit fifth in the league standings, level on 22 points with Ipswich Town and Charlton having picked up seven wins from their first 11 games.

The Imps have showed their promotion credentials on more than one occasion this term, with Appleton clearly getting a fine tune out of his players in the early stages of the campaign.

Quiz: Did these 17 Lincoln City players ever actually score a league goal for the club?

With plenty of fixtures coming up in a hectic winter schedule, squad rotation will be key, and Appleton will look to shuffle the pack to ensure his players come out better for it the other side.

Here, we take a look at two underrated Lincoln players Appleton should look to use more...

Zack Elbouzedi

Elbouzedi joined Lincoln from Waterford back in January, and the forward has shown glimpses of his quality since moving to the LNER Stadium.

The 22-year-old made only five appearances last season, though, with the League One season being curtailed, and he has found game time hard to come by this term.

The likes of Anthony Scully, Jorge Grant and Brennan Johnson have hugely impressive of late, so it would be unfair to drop them at the moment.

But having impressed in the EFL Trophy against Scunthorpe, Elbouzedi will be keen to break into Appleton's side sooner rather than later.

Jamie Soule

Soule hasn't really had much of a look-in since joining Lincoln on a short-term loan from West Brom.

The 19-year-old was brought in as a replacement for Callum Morton, who picked up an injury only a short time into his loan spell at the LNER Stadium.

He scored on his debut for the club in the EFL Trophy win at Mansfield Town, but has since played only once.

He is a young striker with an eye for goal, and he could push Tom Hopper all the way when it comes to a starting berth.
