Conrad Logan has been in goal for Mansfield Town over the last couple of weeks, forcing Nottingham Forest loanee Jordan Smith on to the bench.

Logan, who lists Hibernian and Luton amongst his former clubs, returned to the side after a two month absence during the 0-0 draw with Crawley.

He kept his place for the televised match against leaders Lincoln during which he conceded a penalty, converted by John Akinde.

He's keeping the Forest player out of the side, despite Smith having previously started 11 matches for The Stags. He fell out of favour following the 2-1 defeat against Port Vale, following on from conceding two the week prior against Cheltenham.

Logan seems to have curried favour, but this weekend David Flitcroft faces a huge decision. Does he stick with the experienced Logan, or bring Smith back into the fold?

We have two clear reasons why it has to be the latter.

The Lincoln Penalty

The penalty Logan conceded against Lincoln was shockingly weak.

He had no business rushing out of his goal and clattering in to Harry Anderson. If he hadn't done that, perhaps the Stags win the game and move closer to League One.

Nottingham Forest Relationship

Mansfield have a good relationship with Forest, Tyler Walker and Jorge Grant are testament to that, but if Smith doesn't get games will it cause issues for them?

He hasn't gone there to sit on the bench. He's better than that.
