Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is getting his feet right under the table at Old Trafford, and according to reports from The Sun, United are interested in signing Norwich City star Ben Godfrey.

The Red Devils are in the market for a young centre-half who is comfortable on the ball, and Godfrey certainly fits that bill.

The 21-year old, after playing an integral role in Shrewsbury Town's magnificent campaign last term, has come on leaps and bounds under Daniel Farke this season.

The defender, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, has been a regular for Norwich in the second-half of the campaign, keeping the likes of Timm Klose and Grant Hanley out of the side.

The Canaries have reportedly slapped a £10million price tag on Godfrey's shoulders, with United sending scouts to watch the 21-year old in recent weeks, as he netted the winner in Norwich's 2-1 win over Rotherham last week.

Here, we take a look at TWO reasons why United simply need to get this deal done...

He has shown real maturity this term

After returning from a Sky Bet League One play-off final loss last season, Godfrey has shown extraordinary maturity to nail a place down in the side this term.

He wasn't really in Farke's plans at the beginning of the season, but after being thrown in initially as a back-up option, he has kept two very senior, experienced players out of the team in Hanley and Klose.

He has a massive future ahead of him

At 21-years old, Godfrey has already experienced a lot, and a push for promotion to the Premier League will be massively beneficial for the player.

United have a plethora of talented youngsters coming through the ranks at Old Trafford, and Godfrey would be another exciting option to have.
